I don’t really use my blog for movie reviews, but in the case of The Muppets, an exception had to be made.
My dad and I have been trying to find time for us both to go see this movie for a couple of weeks now. We drove an hour north but it was well worth the trip.
This movie had me laughing, crying, and I think it’s the longest I’ve kept a smile on my face in a while. I want to start first by expressing my gratitude for Jason Segal, my ideal man, and in my opinion one of the most talented writers/actors in the biz. I really appreciated that they didn’t cheapen The Muppets and they really stayed true to the characters and the era the characters were born in. There were no cheap jokes to try and update a classic, the closest thing they came to was (spoiler?) a Muppet Chicken cover version of F*** You by Cee lo Green.
The reason I liked this movie most, was because for the 103 minutes this movie was running I wasn’t thinking about anything else but the movie. I was having fun the entire time and was totally enchanted. It is exactly the reason people go to see movies. Sometimes I can be cynical and I forget how great a night to the movies can be. But when I find something like this that I really like, and I actually have the time to not think about anything else in the world. It’s a really nice break. Not to mention a great night out with my pop and Kermit.
